pathetic? who's the one bashing other cultures' style of cooking? FyI, you ignorant little prick, they don't try to make it like jamaicans.

Did it ever occur to you that mayhap haiti has a couple jamaican residents? Did it ever cross your mind that the person who first created those meals was probably a jamaican man or woman who wanted to add a bit of their culture into the foods they were enjoying in haiti in hopes it would taste a tad bit like home? I'll guess not.
Before you go on a website to bash anyone, at least make sure your writing makes sense...

JEEZ!!

How sad that this individual should be the one to represent Jamaicans on this site.

As a Haitian, I have many Jamaican friends who love Haitian foods as much as I like Jamaican food.

It is obvious that this individual has no class, very little education, and has a serious anger management issue.

However, my Haitian brothers don't let his foul mind disturb your peace.

We all know that Jamaica was the last Caribbean nation to gain its independence, and so many Jamaicans like this one are not well educated and remain in the dark about Haiti's amazing history prior to its contemporary troubles.

Individuals like this one are a dime a dozen and they come in all nationalities.

They've never read a book in their lives; they get all their information from the local TV channels' they are lucky if they even finished the 12 grade; they spend their whole days drinking beer, wearing a white A shirt, and beating up some woman.

Ignore this insignificant individual.

Although it would be very tempting to respond with name calling and vulgar language (as you seem to be so proficient in), that will not solve any of the serious problems that exist with your way of thinking.

It’s unfortunate that you have been "miseducated" and your mind is still in a state of confinement.

However, I believe that it is my duty to inform those who believe they are knowledgeable yet are not, because that is the first step to true liberation.

Thus, it is necessary that I address the comments in your post:
You’re so sure your spelling is top notch and yet you still spelled Haitian incorrectly.

Being Jamaican does not automatically qualify your English speaking abilities.

Most Jamaican’s so-called "English" is really patois, which I’m pretty sure your British colonizers would have a difficult time understanding.

As for Haitian food not being Caribbean, we set the standard for what Caribbean is. We were the first independent nation in the Caribbean, so while we were forming a true Caribbean identity, Jamaica was still under British control.

When you have a European power controlling your country, how can you claim to be the "real Caribbean?" That’s like Britain saying, they are the real Caribbean.

Sounds absurd, doesn’t it? And it still took Jamaica more than 150 years after Haiti to get their independence, so it wasn’t until then that you guys were capable of forming your own identity.

Furthermore, if you knew anything about Jamaican culture, you would know that Jamaicans eat tripe, cow feet, pigs tails, and goat head soup (mannish water), which many people would find unappetizing.

However, that is no reason to insult your culture.

So before you post comments and make yourself look and sound ignorant, do us all a favor and educate yourself on different cultures, especially your own. Instead of relying on "what you heard," start by doing some research and try reading a book.

Do Not Dignify That With An Answer!!!

by Mimi on 4/15

Please Everyone.

The best way to respond to HATE is by not respondng at all. Haitians you people know how much respect and honor is important to you. By not responding to things like that you're showing that you're too good to respond to things that are sooo beneath you.

I second that!!

My Mom is part Haitian and Chinese and my Dad is from India so that makes me " full of culture ".

I am privlidge to have experience lots of different types of food from each culture.

So as for those who choose to be close-minded and disrespectful about other cultures go ahead and continue to oppress your self there is no room for ingnorant people like you! You and others like you are the only one's missing out on the good things in life!

To all you ignorant people out there...

everyone's food should be appreciated for its own unique tastes.

I am a white Canadian and i've had the pleasures of eating many different types of food, including Haitain food, as i dated a haitain man for a few yrs. I think Haitain food is absolutely fantastic, along with my love for Jamaican food.

I know a lot of people who seemed to think OXTAIL and CURRY GOAT is extremely unappetizing, but you Jamaicans love it. So, before you go off dissing Haitains, how bout you take a look at your own food and what it has to offer and realize that each and every culture has some nasty ass sht. Go try some Haitain food, i suggest the Griot or Fried Plaintain and i'm sure you'll change your mind ;)
