Recipe: Le Geum (beef stew)
I am a native of Philadelphia, and through my travels and experiences during my Undergraduate Career at Penn State University, I discovered Haitian Cuisine.
I met quite a few Haitian Americans and Haitian Exchange Students in the Caribbean Students Association, and learning about the culture was a very exciting experience.
The main reason that I am writing is due to my experience eating something that is very similar to my mother's 'beef stew,' but my friends called it le gurm or something (le geum).
Is there anyone out there that knows how to make it? It was the bomb, it tasted so good, and it was such a great experience.
I ate it for the first time in Connecticut...
I am currently back in Philadelphia.
I am a little apprehensive about going to just any restaurant, because I don't know which ones are authentic.
I was taken to a haitian restaurant by one of my friends who was from Haitia (Port au Prince), and while I know other Haitians in Philly, they usually just cook at home.
So before I continue to bug my friends and/or their parents, can someone share a recipe and tips on cooking it correctly.
