With all due respect I think this recipe is for gimonade not soup joumou. when you add macarony with the vegetables it is soup joumou but once you add rice it's no longer soup it's gimonade. P.S. Saturday Dec 31, 2005Murielle, try using Hubbard squash. It's the large cut squash you find in the produce aisle at most supermarkets. I have been using that for years. I finish off the soup with frozen squash because it adds great color to the soup. Try it and good luck to you!

She says that the frozen sqwash in the supermarket is just not the same a using the real Haitian joumou. This year there is no Joumou from Haiti, will I still have a delicious soup from frozen swash or is she right about the taste?
